Developing your personality

Updated: Aug 15, 2021

Personality development

We have been born with different and amazing personalities. Everyone has their own qualities and traits which make him/her unique. But still, when we reach a certain age, we realize that we lack so many things in our personality. That’s when the Personality Development comes in. So how do we go about improving our personality? We get scared to interact with people and lack confidence to do things in our daily life for which we may need additional guidance.

Some usually start searching different institutions to join for some personality development classes to find out various ways to improve different areas of our personality. But before you do that, ask yourself this question - do I have any idea about what exactly personality is and how to develop it?

If you think personality means looking good and attractive then it's not the right way to think and understand it. Personality is the combination of characteristics or qualities that form an individual's distinctive character. It’s the mental as well as physical state of every individual.

There are many institutes and centers where we can join for some crash course with very less time. But the doubt that comes first to many is that by attending such courses is if it would be worth it. Frankly speaking no institutions can turn you into a different person in a short course to create a long lasting effect especially those where you pay a lot of fees. The courses may help you in recognizing the personality factors to focus on but it's not the usual case where they explain you on how to practice it every day which will then create a lasting effect on your personality. You could just end up spending a lot of money for something you didn't completely learn. If you join a personality development course, it is important for you to not just understand the different things that improve your personality but also must learn how to practice daily with different aspects to create a long lasting positivie effect of your personality. At SPC Spoken English Classes, we clearly focus on what's most important for you to learn and how to practice daily for a very small amount of fees and course duration.

Today, I thought of sharing some advice for personality development through this blog that could help you to some extent without joining any courses.

So, now the question is how to develop personality? What helps in the development of personality? In simple terms, Personality development is an initiative to improve certain traits and qualities which contribute to your overall personality. No matter what your age is, there is always a space for improvement. Having a good personality can help in your better professional and social life.

Let’s go to certain important personality developments which will help you to understand how to gain a better personality with some of the Personality Development Tips:

1. Personality does not mean that you should have a great look:

Personality represents the person who you are and how you are. It’s not only the look that matters but there are many other aspects which are added to it. Personality plays a crucial role in our day to day life. No matter where you go; be it any parties, interviews, work place or any other occasions, your overall personality plays a very important role in determining yourself. A person’s internal and external personality leads him/her to achieve success. The personality of an individual is determined by his/her appearance, attitude, behavior, education, values and many more different characteristics. Also it is defined by his/her actions and reactions in different situations.

2. Dress up according to the occassion:

There’s no doubt that a very good look matters to a person’s personality. At the same time what matters the most is how you dress up well according to the occasions. It plays a major role in one’s personality development.

3. Each person is unique:

Every individual is different. We all have different qualities and characteristics in us. Never try to compare yourself with others. That will only increase your stress. It’s very important to focus towards your positive traits. So try not to imitate anyone. Be the one which you are in real and never pretend to become somebody.

4. Acknowledge the positives in You:

If every individual has his or her limitations, then he/she has positives too. Once we concentrate in our positives, it becomes easy to work on your weak points. Know your strength and work on it. Acknowledge the good things in you and fight against negatives. It would definitely help you to overcome the challenges and take you to the success.

5. Never avoid or ignore social interactions:

Most of us feel that we aren’t good looking and confident enough to meet people. Always look for opportunities. Go to different events and social gatherings. Try to involve yourself in interactions and activities. The more you interact with people you will have more confidence. And never under estimate in your talents. Always use it wisely. Give more push to the negative aspects and work on it.

6. Get out of your Comfort Zone:

Once you take a step towards your goal, you cannot give a second thought and ignore it. That will worsen your stress. So push yourself and get out of your cozy couch and prepare yourself to learn new skills. For many of them it’s a huge learning process. But at the end the result is worth the effort. Always carry an open minded attitude and have a very positive nature to accept any changes you need to make.

7. Never Fear Failure:

Don’t worry about making mistakes. It’s very obvious to make lots of mistake in the learning process. Mistakes may hold you back for some time, but once you overcome, eventually you can move on to your goal.

8. Make Yourself known:

Always try to be someone than anyone. Let your personality be acknowledged in public by branding yourself in all your communications. So make sure it shows you in the positive light. The more personal the message the better.

9. Learn to Be a Leader:

To be a leader, you have to be very confident with the topic that you are handling. Whatever you learn and however little you know, use it carefully. Unless you are thorough with the topic, you cannot pass it on to others. If you convey the message in the right way, you will attract people. Express your thought and views in a right manner. That’s the key to the success.

10. Be Consistent:

Whatever and whichever field you are, always plan your day and the work. That will ease your stress and time. Your efforts must have consistency. That way you can win the day and time.

11. Never give up:

In learning process many people start with full enthusiasm. In some point of time if there comes any difficult situation, they give up. May be that final bit of belief that prevented them. Never do that. Always keep a smart head and keep cool.

12. Be cool and funny:

That makes others more comfortable to interact with you. Don’t be serious always. Because no one likes boring and serious people. Everybody likes a company of someone who can make them laugh and have fun with. So be the one of that sort. Always carry a smile with confidence and be an optimist in every situation. I know it not easy to bring all these qualities in one short. But at the same time not difficult either. So encourage yourself to achieve whatever you wish to be in your life.

Therefore, as mentioned above, it is not just about joining a course and expect results automatically in your personality's development. Learning what to focus on and how to focus on daily is what SPC Spoken English Classes specialises in and teaches you within a short course and small fees.
